Sodium Sulfite

Chemical Formula: Na₂SO₃
Physical Appearance: White crystalline powder or granules. Odorless, releases slight sulfur smell when decomposing. Highly soluble in water.
Applications: It is used as oxygen scavenger in boiler water and cooling water. It removes dissolved oxygen to prevent corrosion. Pulp and paper industry use it for belaching and as dechlroniation agent. It is also a preservative and antioxidant in food industry.
